Prices received for their
Class l milk by dairymen under
the Oregon Quota Plan have
been increased by the Oregon
Department of Agriculture.
In an order issued September
5, 1974, the department set the
price milk producers were to
receive for their 3.5 per cent
Class l milk at $9.40 per hun
dredweight for that m ilk
produced in September and
$9.64 per hundredweight for
milk produced in October
The price set for the Sep

as set by a January 21, 1974,
order. It was to have been

to
dairymen under a federal price
order dropped below the
Oregon price, but for several
months federal prices topped
those of. Oregon and the $9.40
price was not used until July,
1974.
A temporary order by the
departm ent
dropped
the
Oregon price to $9.16 for the
August production when the
federal price order set a price
of $8.26 per hundredweight for
the same month.
The order followed an August
hearing in Salem with Ray

the
department as hearing officer.
Hobson
said
evidence
presented at the hearing set the
production cost of milk in
Oregon Milk Market Area No. 1
at approximately $9.56 per
hundredweight, adding that the
price adjustment will be within
a 20 cents per hundredweight
range of the estimaied cost of
its production. He said it would
also re fle c t a com petitive
balance between available milk
supply from the surrounding
production areas.
The increase, he noted, will
