shortage.

The financial report by Lewis
Hall, treasurer, showed a gain
as did the Memorial Fund,
reported by Pauline Allen.
These good reports show a
continued interest and give
impetus to future plans for the
Golden Age Club.
Several tours a re being
planned for the spring and
summer season by the tour
committee, Alice Olson and
Stanley Davis. These include
the Trojan Plant near Rainier,
the M aryhill Museum near
Biggs, the Owens Illinois Glass
Recycling Plant and a trip up
the Columbia River by boat.
Many showed interest in this
phase of the club’s activity.
Gordon Pitman, a licensed
defense driver instructor for
A A.R.P. And N .R .T.A . was
present and encouraged classes
for senior citizens.
Classes totaling eight hours
of instruction over a period of
two days will be organized later
this spring and summer.
This defensive driving in
struction will develop new and
better driving habits among
experienced drivers. Pitman
recently moved into Sandy and
expects to become a member of
the Golden Age Club.
Frieda Whitlock displayed
the Golden Age Club scrapbook
which contains a host of pic
tures and much information
concerning the club. It dates
back to the beginning of the
club and traces its history to
the present time. All should see
this interesting record.
Word has been received that
one of our members, Margaret
Bell, has moved to the Rest
Harbour Nursing Home. We
hope her stay there w ill not be a
lengthy one.
