That must be what editors are for . . .so be it. ooo COMING UP: THE WOMEN'S CLUB PRIZE NIGHT w ill be Friday night, Feb. 22, at the Barlow T ra il Inn Buffet starts at 6:30 p.m. ooo THE MONTHLY MEETING of the Mt. Hood Unit of the League of Women Voters was held Wednesday at Pic Erickson's home They discussed Mental Health Problems of Children and Youth. Some of the facts presented were very shocking. If anyone would like information about what is available on this subject, contact Karen Serline or Pic Erickson The next meeting w ill be on the third Wednesday in March at P ic’s home at 11 a m. . . we’ll remind you of this again later. o oo AROUND THE MOUNTAIN: HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. Last Thursday evening, Feb. 14, at a cocktail party and meeting at Bowman's Resort, a new organization called H.A.P.- P Y . . . the Hoodland Association for Progress, Planning and You, sprang into being. The meeting was attended by a large group of mountain citizens and property owners with an interest in getting things going on the mountain. Mr. Scott Brown of Himount Land, Inc gave a presentation of the proposed Cedar Ridge project. Officers were elected, and they are as follows: president: Gus Turner, secretary: Lois Rice. The Steering Committee is com posed of six members. They are executive vice-chairman, Dick Seller, Gus Turner, Lois Rice, Bud Nash, Dr. Dean Anderson, and Jim Turin. Members of the executive committee are: Ken Walker, Mo Musser, Russ Konell, Maryanne H ill, Dana Thornberg, Jerry Redding, Hank Geisler, Len Gibson, Larry Godsey, Charlie Sperr, Red Hower, Carl Reynolds, George Bruns, M ilt Fox, Paul Rice, Margie Carothers, Norm Strebin, B ill Spencer, Ray Novotny, Everett Jones, Berkley Anderson, Fran Northrup, Paul Sanders, Ray Thornberg, Roger Williams, B ill Steinbarger, and Joe DeMarsh. o oo JACK VERMAAS is still in Good Samaritan Hospital. He is doing better and w ill probably be home in a few days. ooo JUDY JENSEN has been quite ill at Woodland Park Hospital for over a week At this w riting her mom, Louise O’Dea, reports that she seems much improved, and could possibly come home in a few days. ooo WE ARE SORRY TO LEARN that Alan Jensen’s father, Bud Jensen, has been critically ill in St. Vincent Hospital for over two months. ooo GENE COLLIER went into the Veterans Hospital Monday for surgery. He may even even be home by the time you read this although he did comment on how pretty the nurses were. ooo LEONA PURDY home after spending five days in the hospital at 100 Mile House, B.C. Had a bad case of the flu, but is doing fine now Daughters Lorrell and Marylou drove up to be with her. o oo THE HOODLAND VOLUNTEER FIR E DEPT. held their annual banquet for firemen, their wives and guests at the Hoodland Park Building last Friday night. The buffet was catered by ZigZag Inn, and from all reports it was a fun evening. ooo HAPPENED TO BE ONE of the early arrivals (thank-you, Eddtei at a rather spectacular fire Sunday afternoon. The house belonged to Les Wilson and is located off the Salmon River Road above Fairway Ave The beautiful, large home was almost completely destroyed. ooo CHET VOHS, about your belated Christmas present . . remember it’s not the gift but the spirit, and besides one shouldn't look a g ift horse in the mouth or open the lid even! ooo CHRIS AEPPLI AND LEANN CASH have been away on a two week vacation to San Francisco, Disneyland and other fun spots along the way. ooo ADRIENNE (the only one on the mountain with a brown face) home after spending over a care-free month in Palm Springs and the California coast. While in Palm Springs she was a guest of Sharon Bridgeman. ooo CHARLIE VAN HANDEL celebrated his 72nd birthday last Friday. Swede Kalberg took the afternoon off to act as guide and chauffeur for Charlie. ooo A CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION. “ The Cellar Dwellers” bowling team have risen above their name, and now find them selves in firs t place in their league . . .first time in 10 years! The team is composed of Lex Secomb, Vi Collier, and Cheri Marx. Roger M a rtin of Clackamas County. The inspections were delayed through the e ffo rts of legislators and a Joint Ways and Means Subcom m ittee w hich opted fo r a free, voluntary inspection in all of Multnomah. HEIDELBERG PIUS DEPOSIT Î8 SCHILLING'S G R O U N D BLACK County planners address appraisers Dominic Mancini, the interim d ire c to r of the Clackam as County Planning Department, assisted by Bruce Davis, also of the planning department, were the guest speakers at the b re akfa st m eeting of the Clackamas County chapter of the Society of Certified Ap p raisers of Oregon, last Tuesday Mancini discussed a few of the proposed zoning districts in Clackamas County such as the Exclusive Farm Use D istrict (E F U ), and the General Tim ber D istrict (GTD), as w ell as the o v e ra ll com prehensive plan to zone the whole county. Davis discussed the functions of the planning department in an effort to fam iliarize the appraisers w ith each function in planning as well as the people who work with each function “ C lackam as County was expected to be zoned by April, 1974. but the plans are s till in the rough draft stage," says re g is tra tio n w ould not be renewed by the Department of Motor Vehicles The voluntary program is intended to allow motorists to test their cars and assess the costs of needed repairs. It would also allow the state to determine the effectiveness of the inspection program.
