(Post Photo) Firwood committee works on planning The meeting of the Firwood area planning commission was called to o rd e r by Duane Knaoo, alternate deletate, on Dec. 13. Elected to replace Rosemary Woltring as delegate was Mrs Robert Blunt. Duane Knapp and Col. Robert Blunt were nominated to be alternate delegates. The three m ajor jobs of the committee were explained and discussed: 1. A study of the existing use of the land within the boun­ daries of the area 2. Mapping of the existing use of the land 3. A study of what the land- owners and residents of the area would like to see happen to their area in the future. The deadline for the final mapping of the existing use of the land is Feb. 1, 1974. The dpadline for the final proposal fo the future land use is June 1, 1974. It was suggested each neigh­ borhood area meet together -try to work out some ’tproposals for future use and to coatact a ll residents and land- owners in their immediate area The area was divided into these sub-areas: Dover-Bear Creek - Loren Ricks, John Stewart and Anna Horter w ill work as a nucleus in that area. Hillcrest- John Engle and Mary-Elizabeth Blunt w ill work in that area. Firwood Road- John Ordiel, Phil Cousins, Mrs. Schenck, and Charles L. Haddox w ill work in that area. At the Dec. 11 meeting, over 30 persons attended and it was reported 60 persons were on the regular m ailing list of the Sandy committee The com­ mittee also has 14 meeting notice listing places to help advertise the meetings and to encourage public input. Reports were heard from the satellite committee chairmen John Engdall, Wally Hewitt, Ron W atts and B arbara Boswell. These people are heading up the map plotting of the Sandy area. Mrs. Boswell indicated at this meeting she would have to resign as committee chairman, but would remain as an active committee member. Questionnaires were passed out to the members present who were asked to distribute them in their neighborhoods. The questionnaire was ex­ plained as having three parts. 1 What is on your land now — how is it being used. 2. What proposals for future use do you have—How would you like to see it used in the future. 3. What would you like your neighborhood to be like in the future. There is space on the back for each landowner or resident to map out the existing use of the property. D u rin g the evening, discussions covered zone changes, a suggestion to hire independent firm to assist us, and the important fact that if we don’t do the planning the state w ill do it for us.
