The bride wore a white satin
empire gown with stand-up
collar which was trim m ed with
cotton border lace on the cuffs,
collar and down the center.
A pillbox crown headpiece
borrowed from the bride’s aunt
held her veil. She carried a
nosegay of spider mums, roses,
baby’s-breath and carnations
in shades of pink, lavender and
white.
The bride had sixpence in her
shoe and wore a pearl and cross
necklace given to her by her
parents
Mari Annis was her sister's
maid of honor.

tation of Handel’s Messiah next
Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3:30 p.m. in
the Sandy Assembly of God
Church.
This is one of the last events
com m em orating the Cen
tennial Year in Sandy and a
community choir made of in
terested singers in the Sandy
area w ill participate in the
presentation of the most
famous and one of the greatest
oratories, the Messiah.
It was w ritten between Aug.
22 and Sept. 12, 1741 by Handel
and the text was selected from
the s c rip tu re s by Charles
Jennens. It was firs t produced
in Dublin, Ireland, A pril 13,
1742, under the direction of
Handel; the audience was so
thrilled by the music that they
stood spontaneously on the
Hallelujah chorus which has
remained a tradition since.
The Sandy Community Choir
is under the direction of Dr.
C arl H jortsvan g , c u rre n tly
choir director of the Com
munity Presbyterian Church in
Sandy. He has wide experience
as a church choir director and
as music department head and
instructor in a number of
colleges in the East, including
director of college choirs in
Indiana and North Carolina. He
has done extensive work as a
soloist himself.

Hanson of Wemme who is well
known in the area here as a
music instructor, pianist and
organist.

Carelessness with an electric
blanket can cause problems,
especially if the electric cord
has been placed between the
springs and mattress, or the
wired end of the blanket is
tucked under. Care m ust
always be taken th a t the
electric control is turned off,
that the blanket is not left in
folds, or heavy weights put on
the blanket.
Most families do not have
new carpet purchased since the
flam m ability standards were
imposed. As more wood is
burned this winter to help
stretch heating fuels, it is
im p o rta n t to consider the
hazards of sparks getting onto
the rug A fireplace screen or
doors should be used fo r
protections. One of the com
forts of glass fireplace doors,
comments the specialist, is the
knowledge that a fire can be
left burning without any chance
of accident when the fam ily
goes off to bed

should
not
be
overloaded by plugging in more
appliances than the wire size
can accommodate. If the house
has fuses, be sure the rig ht size
fuse is used, or the overload
w ill result in a fire rather than
blowing the fuse. Especially
vulnerable to fire, Mrs. Lunner
cautions is the house with lots
of wood paneling.
