MHCC and Portland General
E lectric recen tly conducted
tests of the campus electrical
system to find a suspected
power leak A grounded main
cable between the north and
south ends of the campus was
delected, and the college ex
perienced a black-out for two
days, operating on emergency
power only
T hese te sts were made
during the summer vacation to
avoid this problem occuring
during the school term s,
specifically the cold winter
months

Mt Hood Community College
is doing it’s part to help con
serve the depleting energy
resources in Oregon
MHCC maintenance people,
(acuity and staff are trying to
exceed a ten per cent reduction
in
energy
consum ption
throughout the campus
Office lighting in moat large
institutions has proven to he
more than adequate .for eye
care and em ploye com fort
MHCC is m the process of
rem oving
and
storing
florescent tubular lights taken
from the cam pus' o ffic e s,
lobbies.

foot candle levels is, in all
cases, just above the required
standard for lighting
The c o lle g e
has
also
discontinued the cosmetic use
of several lighting facilities
around
the
cam pus.
These lights illuminate signs,
fountains, bulletin boards, and
other ornamental, yet sub

u n r e q u ir e d ,
