nice “ welcome back” type phone calls and messages I m truly
delighted by the amount of interest shown in reviving the column

WEEKEND Wanderings Friday a m Meeting w ith Fred and
Ray Thornberg and Terry Em m ert to finalize moving date for the
“ M t Players Log Theater ’ . iThe name was suggested by Joe
Chambers and officially adopted by the M t Players > A conflict
with hunting season changed the previous moving date to
Tuesday. Oct 24 at which tim e all the hoopla possible w ill ac
company this long awaited move The Governor is being invited to
dedicate the building, the County Commissioners to do the
groundbreaking and of course the press and all interested parties
are invited to attend the ceremonies

FRIDAY AFTERNOON Toured scene of flood control repair
work on the Salmon River with Post editor. Tom Taylor, who w ill
follow through with some fact-finding about the project
Discussed several county issues to be delved into in the near
future
Next stop - Lions hall kitchen to take pics of fish and fishermen
while preparations werebeing made for the Mt Hood Chapter of
Northwest Steelheaders Sea Food Feed Returned later in the
evening to partake of the goodies - along with a couple of hundred _
other fish lovers Was convinced the guys who catch 'em sure
know how to cook 'em!
An informative chat with Steelheaders secretary. Carol Konell,
assured me gals are welcome to join the sportsmen whose
ecology-minded efforts are well worth supporting So I did' Call

Ariz The dinner party in their honor included Lois and Paul Rice,
Hal and Kitty N'oteboom and the V irg il Hills, also from Arizona
Janet and Merle were here to attend the wedding of son. Greg
and were surprised w ith the news son. Dexter, had taken a bride a
few days before It makes me feel pretty old to think of all the

NEXT STOP Inn-Between where owner. Charlie Speer, at the
piano, had to play Happy Birthday to himself so his friends could
sing it to him Among those with birthday wishes were Lee
Crabtree and Alice Owens whom 1 mention because it is great to
see Lovely Alice out and about the mountain again <We came
close to losing this gal and everyone is delighted to see such
steady improvement in her health. i
On to the Zig Zag Inn to extend birthday wishes to Fred Thorn
berg who was celebrating his with the entire Thornberg clan in
tow (And if I've said it once I'll say it a thousand times — what a
tremendous asset the Thornberg clan is to the Hoodland com
munity There I ’ve said it again!)

deck0 That’s right the Thornbergs! Plus. Jack Elliot, Gene and
Gordon Clausing and Mark Dixon A ll of whom shed tears at
having to fall trees — but it had to be done
Next on the agenda - a stop at the Hoodland Women's Club A-
fram etocheck on progress of rummage sale The gals are raising
funds for tennis courts and Lois Rice was chairman for this very
successful project
SATURDAY NIGHT The Mt Players performed "Egad,
What A Cad ’ for the National Vending Machine Retailers at
Bowmans Golf Club theater and earned another $300 for the
Players building fund On hand with special out-of-town guests
were Charlie Augustine with his sister and brother in law from
Mexico and Helen and Wes Post with guests from Arizona. (We
sneaked them in to see the show and they loved it . )
A very special thank you to Dorothy Warren and Mike Conrad
from the M t Players for fillin g in at the last minute to provide
music for the show They did a great job So did the singers,
dancers, actors and backstage people who deserve so much credit
for giving their all to provide us a permanent community theater
