dination as clergyman of the Episcopal Church this year.
Father Bozarth was honored at a special church picnic
June 13th.

programs in the Episcopal
Church for Anglican hospitals
in Africa, the Middle East, and
the Philippines The Society
re g u la rly receives medical
supplies and church goods
which are forwarded on to
needy hospitals under Anglican
auspices serving persons of all
faiths and denominations.

St. Paul consolidated its

their home in Sandy.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her
husband of West Linn; three
sons, Larry, Raymond and
Randy Wood of Milwaukie; two
daughters, Marion and Lori
Wood of M ilw a u kie ; five
brothers, Clifford, William and
George H art of Gresham,
Archie Hart of Hillsboro, and
Lawrence Hart of Boring; a
step-brother, Clifford Hirsch of
Gresham and an aunt. Irene
Lively of Milwaukie
Interment was in Willamette
National Cemetery in Portland.

In 1963 during the building of
the Sandy nursing home,
F ather Bozarth suffered a
serious re s p ira to ry ailm ent
which has plagued him since.
Although often i l l due to
re c u rrin g viru s infections
which settle in his respiratory
tract. Father Bozarth is still
active in the community.

St. Jude's Collegiate Chapel
and Rector of The Society of St.
Paul, celebrates his 20th an­
nive rsa ry as an Episcopal
clergyman this year
Father Bozarth, is general
administrator of St. Jude’s
Home in Sandy and is editor of
the "Mountain Magazine ” He
was honored at a special parish
picnic June 13 at the IS .

festivities.
Follow ing a successful
career in radio (he was once
program director of Radio
Station KW'JJ) and journalism
(he has written for over half a
dozen tri-county area news
publications I, Father Bozarth
entered the Episcopal ministry
in 1951.
Ordained to the Diaconate
and priesthood of the Episcopal
Church by the late Bishop, The
R ight Reverend Benjam in
Dagwell, Father Bozarth was
responsible for the founding of
St. Luke's Episcopal Church in
Gresham
In 1958 he with the assistance
of several area laym en,
founded The Society of St Paul,
the only religious order of the
Episcopal Church in the Pacific
N orthwest, and opened St.
Jude's Home, then located in
Gresham, next to the parish
church.
The present St. Jude’s Home
was purchased by The Society
of St. Paul in 1962. The 63 bed
facility began serving the area
residents and people of the
m etropolitan com m unity in
February of 1963.
The nursing home has
provided, since its beginning, a
payroll for a staff of ap­
proximately 30 full and part
time persons. It also con­
tributed to the economy of the
area through the purchase of'
goods and services since its
beginning. It is hoped by the
Home’s operators that the
nursing care center w ill grow
with the Sandy area.
In addition to his duties as
Vicar of the Episcopal Church
mission congregation and
administrator of the nursing
home. Father Bozarth is active
in national and international

Richard Nolan
Richard Dean Nolan died in
his home at Rt. 1 Box 3, Sandy,
on June 12. at the age of 13.
Ricky was born March 10,
1958 in Sacramento. California.
He lived in Sacramento until
1966 when he moved to Portland
where he attended school and
was a member of the Cub
Scouts. In 1969 he moved to
Sandy where he was a member
of the swimming team at Sandy
Grade School. He attended the
Assembly of God Church in
Sandy. Ricky liked the out­
doors. where he could fish, golf
and ride his Honda
He is survived by his
parents:

Wolf. Sandy; 2 brothers Terry
Nolan Sandy; Steven Nolan,
California, 1 sister; Luanne
Cramer. Washington; grand­

Fredrik Anderson, 85, Rt. 4
Box 1760, Boring, died at a
Portland hospital June 13.
Anderson was born in Vasa,
Finland and came to the United
States with his parents when he
was eight years old He at­
tended school in South Dakota
and graduated from the school
of mines in Rapid City, S.D.
In 1910 he moved to Oregon
and made his home in Boring
He married Nettie H Bohna
Aug 30 in Portland After their
m arria ge they returned to
South Dakota He worked as an
engineer in the gold mines from
1915 to 1918 when he returned to
Portland and worked in the
Columbia shipyards durin g
World War 1. In 1921 they
moved to their Boring home
where they had lived since
Later Anderson was em­
ployed as an engineer for the
Bull Run Dam project and for
b uilding Bonneville Dam.
From 1942 until his retirement
in 1951. Anderson was with the
Army Engineers in the Pittock
Block in Portland He retired as
an associate engineer
Anderson served for many
years as a director of the Union
Grade School, District 26. He
was also active in the Boring
Grange and the Knights of
Phthias
Surviving members include
his wife, and two daughters,
Mrs R (Nettie' Fields and
Mrs D (Ruth’ Adams. P ort­
land There is one grandchild

the Bateman Funeral Chapel in
Gresham Tuesday. June 15. for
Mary Wood. 43, a longtime
resident of Sandy
Mrs Wood died in a Glad­
stone nursing home June 10
after a lengthy illness
Mary Anne Hart was bom in
Hood River and received her
education in the Hood River follow in the Damascus Pioneer
public schools July 27.1953 she Cemetery
Lenora Eri
Lenora May E ri died in her
Boring home on June 12 at the
age of 76.
Mrs. E ri was bom July 5,1894
in Heppner, Ore. to Mr. and
Mrs. William Steward. At an
early age she moved to Wolf
Creek with her parents where
she grew to womanhood.
January 25,1916 she was united
in marriage to Gilbert Eri in
Grants Pass. They moved to
the Kelso area in 1916 where
they operated a berry farm.
Mr Eri preceded her in death
in 1961. She was a member of
the Norwegian
Lutheran
Church
She is survived by her
ch ild re n: Norena B urdick,
Boring; Elmer E ri, Sandy,
Brothers: W illiam Steward.
Wolf Creek, Harry Steward,
Wolf Creek; Herman Steward,
W olf Creek; Sister: M arie
Leghorn. Portland; 6 grand­
children and 7 great grand­
children. Her son, Glenn Eri,
preceded her in death in 1937.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday June 16, in the
chapel of Sandy Funeral Home.
Rev. Edward Neuenfeldt of­
ficiated Vault interment was
at Scandinavian Cemetery,
Sandy.
