The Mexican personnel do
lot have the know-how, the

that needs to be done. Thus, all
such work is done by volunteer
groups that come to Ensenada
and pay all their own expenses.
These young people paid $50
each to take part in this work
project plus paying their own
expenses to and from the
Mexican border.
Work projects included
finishing a barn and machine

that was started by another
group, installing a drain field
and the painting of buildings
inside and out.
Two ladies took their sewing

work day. On Wednesday 121 of
the group went deep-sea fishing
and hit a school of barracuda.
Twenty-five gunny sacks of fish
were caught before the time
lim it ran out The fish were still
biting when they went back to
the dock The fish ranged from
20 to 30 inches in length and
weighed 3 or 4 pounds. The 160
members of the group had all
the fish they could eat, and over
1,200 pounds were put into the
freezers at the orphanage,
enough to last them for about
nine months.
One boy caught 56 fish.
Puckett commented, " I t is the
first time 1 have ever had to use
a wheel barrow to take fish to
the deep-freeze."
The Mexicans cleaned the
fish before the boat got back to
the dock At the orphanage an
assembly line of ten people
working in continuous shifts
took over six hours to cut the
catch into pieces, wash, drain,
pack in bags and boxes and
take it to the freezers in a wheel
barrow.
