postponed jumping competition
from the Cloud Cap Chalet
Nordic Combined, of two weeks
ago. scheduled to be a part of
the Muntzel competition
The four way test-slalom ,
giant slalom and cross country
for boys and girls plus jumping
for the boys — w ill start
Saturday morning and continue
through Sunday afternoon
While the younger racers
take over the Multorpor Ski
Bowl competitive runs this
coming weekend, last week it
was the collegians who were on
the scene battling for the
Pacific Northwest Collegiate
Championship, a title earned
by the University of British
Columbia.
The Canadians swept both
the men's and women's team
titles in the threeday com­
petition sponsored by Mt. Hood
Community College with Coach
Chuck Dalich as meet director
Central Oregon from Bend
finished second in the men's
division behind UBC and tied

the

of
Washington fo r runnerup
honors in the women's com­
petition. Western Washington
of Bellingham. Puget Sound of

County cancer
unit sets
open house
An Open House is to be held
on Tuesday. March 16. from 10
to 4 at the newly opened
quarters of the Clackamas
County Unit of the American
Cancer Society, according to
Mrs. Bonny Dolan, Executive
Secretary of the Unit.
Located in the Nickles
Building at 722 Main St. in
Oregon City, the suite of rooms
has been donated to the ACS
free of charge for 13 months
with
some
interested
Clackamas County residents
assuming the cost of the
utilities.

residents are invited to see the
first office to be set up in the
County,
look
over
the
educational m aterials, and
avail themselves of the many-
services of the Unit. Volunteers
will be on hand to answer
questions about the Unit and
the services offered the public
by the Am erican Cancer
Society Refreshments w ill be
served.
The Clackamas County Unit
is one of nine in the state, and
serves approximately 165.000
persons The area covers many-

gather in Salem Friday and
Saturday, March 19 and 20. for
the spring meeting of the
Northwest Christm as Tree
association headed by Virgil
Ellett, The Dalles.
The program w ill begin with

morning, with general sessions
scheduled to start in the af­
ternoon at the Marion Motor
Hotel, reports Gary Sander.

Christmas tree producers will
hear talks on safety, taxes, and

feature tours of Christmas tree
operations in the Salem area,
with the tour group leaving the
hotel at 9 a m , Sander said
Most of the morning w ill be
spent at the Crown ZeUerbach
plantation in the Eola Hills
west of Salem where visiting
growers w ill be able to inspect
plantings and green house
operations as well as view an
equipment display
After lunch at Silver Falls
State Park, the tour w ill con­
tinue to Henry Hansen s tree
farm in the Sublimity area

has
successfully
converted a grass farm to a 125-
acre cultured trre plantation.

boys and Rick Hodgeson in
