Burrell has been named as the Patrol Squadron S E V E N T E E N Sailor of the Month for January 1971. He was selected for the award as a result of his outstanding p erfo rm an ce as the M a in tenance D e p a rtm e n t Power Plant Night Supervisor During an Award Ceremony on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Naval S tatio n , Sangley Po in t, Philippines, Commander John M Quin, Jr., Commanding Officer of VP-17, presented him with a squadron plaque and a letter of appointment as Sailor of the Month ADJ2 Burrell, the son of M r. and Mrs Reginald J Burrell of Boring, was graduated rom Sandy High School. He enlisted in the Navy in January 1968, and has been attached to VP-17 since October 1968 The Sailor of the Month Award, newly established in VP-17, is presented each month to the enlisted man who exhibits the highest degree of enthusiasm, dedication, and expertise in the performance of his duties during the previous month.
