The lot valued at $10,000,

But the lot, the trip and the
mink stole are only a few of
the prizes.
There also will be a 30-day

stereo set, four $25 savings
bonds, a set of tires, camera,
stadium blankets, wigs and
wiglets, radios, lighters, shavers
and scores of smaller prizes.
Individual stores also are
giving many prizes within their
own operation.
There is no obligation to
sign up for the prizes, no
purchase is required. You may

Grand opening festivities are
scheduled this weekend for the
new Hoodland Park Plaza
shopping center at Welches.
Thirteen new businesses are
open at the shopping center,
which has been open in a
“shakedown phase” for the
past several weeks. This
weekend, however, marks the
official opening.
All sorts of prizes and
surprises are available from the
m erchants. (For list, see
adjoining story).
Keystone of the new center
is Horner’s Hoodland Market,
ow ned by Dave Horner,
longtime operator of Horner’s
Big Chief in Estacada. The
sto re in co rp o ra tes many
brand-new features.
Another major store is the
H oodland Park Pharmacy,
owned by Jerry Barker, Ivan
Barker and Olin Bignall. Also
included are Kenny Reick’s
U nion Oil, Gay’s Kache,
Hoodland Construction, Dale
Johnson Secretarial Service and
Walrad Insurance.
O th ers are H oodland
Escrow, Post Electric Service,
Bill and Kathy’s House of
B eau ty, H elen G o sse tt’s
Bookkeeping and Tax Service,
Mt. Hood Properties, and Casa
De Carlo II Barber Shop.
The
g r a n d -o p e n in g
festivities actually will extend
over the next four weekends
and prizes will be awarded each
week. The grand prize will be
awarded the final Saturday.
The present stores are but
the first in a two phase
development. The Center will
be expanded to the south,
probably next spring.
The Center is in an L shape
and additional parking is
planned to the south, at the
base of the L. Beyond this
parking area, will be a clinic
and other rental units.
Work will get under way in
the near future on the
additional parking. Present
parking will accommodate
about 150 cars.
Hopefully, the new addition
will include a laundromat, a
men’s shop, a small department
store etc. The center is located
at the intersection of Welch
road and the Mt. Hood
highway
