A note to hikers and riders,
all trails on the district are in
good shape, but dusty.
Campgrounds on the district
are open. Visitors wanting to
camp on the district on the
weekend should arrive early for
most campgrounds are full by
Saturday afternoon.
A n g lerin g s u c c e s s has
im p ro v ed throughout the
district. Fishermen at Olallie
Lake have taken Rainbow
Trout up to 14 inches in length
o n flies. Anglers on the
Clackamas River at Riverside
and Two Rivers Campgrounds
have caught fish ranging in
length from 10 to 12 inches on
large salmon eggs.
Abandoned camp fires have
continued to be a problem on
the district. With the high fire
danger, these unattended camp
fires could result in thousands
o f dollars damage to forest
lands. Remember, Only You
Can Prevent Forest Fires.
An important reminder to
visitors, most o f the district
roads are narrow and dusty and
should be driven with care.
D r iv e

by
anticipating what the other
driver is going to do. This may
mean staying well behind the
vehicle in front. The operator
o f that vehicle may not know
the country and may come to
an adrupt stop at any moment.
If this type o f driving had
occurred this weekend, several
accidents could have been
avoided.
All the district trails have
been maintained this season.
From the cards at the register
at the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness
Boundary, over 1,000 visitors
have travelled the Skyline Trail
to Park Ridge. This is about
three times the number of
people that used the trail last
year.
Visitors will find that all the
recreation facilities on the
district are open. Campgrounds
in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area
have been full for the last five
w e e k e n d s . By S a tu rd a y
afternoon, visitors will find it
hard to find a vacant camp
unit. If vou plan a camping trip
to this area, arrive early so that
you can select the spot you
desire.
