and are anxious to do so.

these
volunteers in the two month
period. Through these efforts it
was possible to extend a great
deal of individual help to the
children when needed and to
give more time to parent
activities. The fine turnout at
the
parent programs and
picnics was implemented by
this support. More than 100
a d u lts
and
c h il d r e n
participated in each of three
individual events held during
the last 2 weeks. A number of
the
volunteers participated
daily throughout the period of
the school.
B ill
B e c k le y ,
who
coordinates the Head Start
program s throughout the
county wishes to commend the
people of the community on
the fine support given the
school.
A special vote of thanks is
extended to the school system
for the use of the Firwood
School. The emphasis is now
on a full year program for
these children so as to reach
them at an earlier age. Planning
is needed now to determine
how a full year program could
be run with a very limited
increase in funds. Anyone
interested in working with the
c h ild re n
eligible for this
program should contact Verne
Buhler al 668-4167. A place to
run a class is of prime
importance, since all local
classrooms are being utilized.
