M all Pharmacists Not New To Shopping Scene
Gresham Mall Pharmacy, in
operation since last April, is
relatively new to the area, but
the manager and owners need
no introduction.
The manager is Syl Johnson,
a registered pharmacist who
was at the Gresham Rexall
D rug
store in Downtown
Gresham (Main and Powell) for
12 years before moving to the
Mall last spring. The owners are
Dick Dowsett, Bob Madsen and
Dick Berry.
Johnson, who is also the
first president o f the Gresham
Mall Merchants Association, is
a 1958 graduate o f Oregon
S ta te
University. He also
a tte n d e d
Troutdale Grade
School and Gresham High.
The

pharmacist at Gresham Mall
Pharmacy is Robin Bolton, also
a graduate o f OSU. Bolton
served his internship as a
pharmacist at Gresham Rexall
Drug.
In addition to prescription
service, the pharmacy offers a
complete line o f Hallmark gifts
and cards, as well as other
specialty items and essential
school supplies. And while
c u s to m e rs wait for their
prescriptions to be filled or just
rest, there is a free coffee bar
in
operation during store
hours.
The store hours are 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Monday through
Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
on Sunday.

In addition to the Gresham
Mall, Sanford’s, which was
founded in Portland 20 years
ago, has stores in L lo y d ’s
Center, Eastport Plaza and
Gateway shopping centers.
Van H om pointed out that
S an fo rd ’s buyers visit the
principal merchandise markets
in New York and Los Angeles
approximately three times a
year to keep abreast o f new
products that are available.
“ Quality, name brands are our
principal interest,” he stated.
The store also carries a
c o n s id e ra b le inventory o f
imported goods, principally
from Switzerland, Germany,
Ita ly
and Belgium. Italian
knits, including baby shawls
and sweater sets, and fine
gauge knits from Germany are
among the featured imported
items.

Sanford’s are always intrigued

cardboard dolls they receive,
especially when they learn that
the Sanford merchandise bags
have cut-out clothes for the
dolls outlined on them.
T h e gift department is
aimed primarily at infants.
A revolving display stage at
the entrance to the store offers
patrons an opportunity to view
the latest in children’s fashions
and novelties.
