Librarians M eet Librarians from 10 public libraries in Clackamas County met June 19 at the Clackamas Community College library. Clackamas County Librarian Sally Lou Tipton and Alice Nielsen, from the State library, answered questions concerning monthly and annual reports w ith th e lib r a r ia n s . Representatives from Canby. C la c k a m a s , E s ta c a d a , G la d s to n e , Lake Oswego. Milwaukie, Molalla. Oregon City, Sandy. West Linn and the County Library office attended the meeting. Pat and Eastie Brewer had as their house guest, their uncle, Lewis Newell, from Long Beach, California. They had a ball taking him around on the mountain showing o tt our area. That’s always fun. We had folks drop in from Anchorage, Alaska. We didn’t know them, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, but Mugg and Lu Norene, of Anchorage asked them to drop in and say hello for them. Certainly enjoyed our visit with the Browns, and it was wonderful to hear news from Mugg and Lu. They are the folks we stayed with when we went to Alaska a few years ago and are former owners of the Zig Zag Inn. Was very sad to hear o f the passing o f former resident Beth Bradley. Claude Gudge is the owner o f the cabins that belonged to the Bradleys before they moved from the area. Beth has been living in the city for several years, but has kept in touch with her former friends. Don’t forget the Chuck Wagon Breakfast on July 4th and 5th. It will be at the Lions Pavillion from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be a Turkey Shoot, and a Hole-in-One deal. Tickets are a v a ila b le fro m any merchant on the mountain. $1.50 for adults and $1.00 for children 12 years and under. Remember, that is for all you jan eat, and it is the best. If you enjoy roller skating get yourself some sidewalk skates. The roller skating on ■OBITUARIES « « « the cement floor at the Lions hall will be starting in a very few w eek s. R e g u la r wooden-floor, shoe skates will not work on the cement, so pick up some sidewalk skates. Sounds like fun! Jerry Halseth, son o f Marie and Wendell o f the Zig Zag Store, had a bit o f trouble with his cycle and has a broken leg for his trouble. He is home, and is doing as well as one can when one leg is all casted up. Get well soon, Jerry. As usual, cutting this short, we are taking o ff for the Deschutes fishing. Going to meet Pat and Andy Reck man over there. More about that later. If y o u ’re out driving walking, running, fishing, or even flying low , and you happen to see something that looks like a big box, better stop and investigate. It could be the 700 pound safe stolen from the Sandy Oil Company. The thieves were unable to open it in the office so hauled it off. I say they, cause I doubt very much if one person was wrestling around a 700 pound safe. It could have been dumped anywhere. So keep your eyes peeled and I am sure Fran and Amby Calkins would be most happy to hear that their safe had been found. The papers that were in it would be absolutely no use to anyone e ls e b u t th em . What a disappointment for the ones that struggled so hard to get into it. Serves them right.
