I tell myself, “ next month w ill be different, 1*11 have nothing to do and can catch up on all the things I*ve put aside to do when things slow down." By now I should know this never happens!) Since calendar-gazing is my usual Monday morning eye- opener, I might as well start the column by listing some of the things in store for you during the next couple of weeks. COMING EVENTS: Friday, Nov. 8, Fun Night, sponsored by the Hoodland Chamber of Commerce, at Bowman’ s Mt. Hood Golf Club. Buffet dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by fun and games at 8 p.m . This is the firs t Fun Night to be held at the golf club this sea­ son and the Chamber is hoping for a big turn-out. The affair w ill be held in the Canyon Room next to the new lounge and I understand Chef Julio is an expert at buffet-type dinners and he is planning something extra-special for this one. Thursday, Nov. 14, Hoodland Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting for members, wives and guests, at Bowman’ s M t. Hood Golf Club. A buffet din­ ner at 7 p.m , w ill be served for tw o-dollars per person. Guest speaker w ill be Stanley Lester, Recreation Specialists for the Bureau of Land Manage­ ment. Desmond will perform with the Mountain P lay ers who a re p rese n t­ ing the popular Ten Nights In A Bar-Room for the benefit of the young people unable to attend past perform ances. Proceeds go to the PTA. (Post photo) Funeral for SP/4 Paul M. Moore, 20, will be today, Thursday at 10 a.m. In the Sandy Baptist Chapel. Specialist Moore, who was serv­ ing with the 25th Infantry Division, died in Viet Nam Oct. 25 from wounds received in combat. He was the first Sandy man to lose his life in the conflict. Rev. Evern Harshman will offer the services and Walter Whitlock w ill be the soloist with Mrs. Louis Bennett as organist. Pallbearers are: James Quinn, James Parker, Melvin Harding, Richard New and Steve Coburn. Military rites will be con­ ducted at the grave site in W il­ lamette National cemetery . Speciaslit Moore was born Feb. 20, 1948 in Portland, attended Sandy grade school and was grad­ uated from Sandy high school. He was employed at Olympic Manu­ facturing in Gresham before en­ tering the service in September, 1967. He took his basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash, and was home on leave last February, leavit^ for Vietnam on his 20th birth­ day. e e a HERMAN HOEFM EISTER Herman Fred Hoffm eister, 68, Rt. 3, Box 980, Boring, died Oct. 30. He was born in Boring A pril 1, 1900 where he attended Union School *26 and Benson high school. He had lived in the Boring-Damascus area all of his life .
