Thwr.., O k . JO, )Hs (»«. ]) th ! |ANDY (Or«.) ROOT LETTERS SANDY TO TNf BIG CHIEF EDITOR^ (Continued from page 2) to higher taxes. By construc tion of a junior high school to serve the entire high school district, 7th and 8th graders would all tie In the new school thus removing 200 from Sandy Elementary's 800 pupil student body, and perhaps extending the adequacy of the present facilities ten to fifteen years. Other contributing schools would experience a similar re lief of 25% of their students, thus prolonging adequacy of their existing facilities. Financing of the junior high school needs exploration--per haps the formation of a junior high school district with the same boundaries as Sandy HS- maybe an expansion of Sandy High School (already bonded to capacity). Maybe we should vote on consolidation of the whole works from grades 1 through 12 ( a solution distasteful to many as local authority over local facilities is almost totally lost). In the latter solution, joining districts should not be required to assume indebted- ess incurred by former individ ual districts. The junior high school should be s new facility constructed to suit the needs of 7th, Sth, and 9th graders, which differ con siderably from the needs of elementary schools in such fields as science, shop, home sc, athletics and student mana gement, etc. My suggestion would lie for Sandy High and Sandy Elemen tary Boards of Directors to hold a joint meeting to understand the extent of Sandy Elemen tary's committment, and thei to form a committee of mem. bers of the boards of director! of all the above-mentioned con tributing schools to make a detail««! study and recommend ation to the patrons of all the districts. This work should be undertaken immediately, before budget committees go too far in plans for expansion for 1966. Very truly yours, Milton M. She believes the furniture made in the early pioneer period of the valley is worthy of preservation before too many pieces are lost. Information she would particularly like to have is the history of any piece a family has that was made before the termination of the frontier period In 1883. She would like to know where and when it was made, the wood and tools used, the name of the cabinetmaker, whether it was homemade or purchased from a furniture factory, what the medium of exchange was tn paying for the item, and any other information that the family would care to give as to the history of the pioneer family that had the piece. Persons having information regarding this furniture may send it to the above address. 8-oz. Package Ass't Flavors AIRMAN DOBSON COAAPLETES BASIC Airman 3/C Russell N.
