He attended the special training sessions on Monday and Tuesday of tills week. The local ranger was one of ten fellows from tlie Mt. Hood National Forest and the U. S. Forest Service's Regional Office at Portland scheduled to lie trained by a new Forest Service fire control simulator. Providing realistic fire problems for trainees to solve under pressure, the revolution­ ary device uses multiple pro­ jectors, taped sound effects, telephones and two-way radios to simulate just about every­ thing but the heat and smell of smoke from a wildfire. Other personnel attending the training course from the Mt. Hood National Forest Included Jack Mounts, Robert Abbott, Lowe! Gilbert and Max Sigi. Two others will tike the course at a Dec. 8-9 training period. They are Stanley Undl, and Richard Mueller.
