basement of the Sandy Ridge
School It is hoped remarked
Rev. Ed. Neuenfeldt, chairman
of the migrant council, that the
entire school facility can be
used this summer with the ad
vent of the added financial help.
This summer a pre-school
program will be launched, as
well as, a first grade learn
ing situation. All possible ef
fort to enrich the experiences
of these migrant children is
planned by the day care center
committee.
Even with the government fin
ancial help there is still a need
for help and assistance from the
community itself, stated Rev.
Neuenfeldt. Funds from the Of
fice of Economic Opportunity
are only alloted to areas where
the community is doing some
thing about the migrant needs
and can use added assistance
in their program.
Besides the need for money
donations from local organiza
tions, businesses and individ
uals there is a need for num
erous items of equipment before
the center opens for this sea
son.
Items needed are listed be
low and persons having them to
loan or give as an out - right
gift to the center may do so by
contacting the council chair
man, Box 395, Sandy or phone
Mrs. Oral Lane at 663-4960.
The following is a list of
items sought:
Cribs and mattresses; play
pens; walkers; strollers; small
tables; high chairs; small
chairs; baby swings, rocking
chairs, and folding cots.
The loan or gift of six large
garbage cans with lids, a large
refrigerator and an electric
range would be appreciated by
the group.
New and used baby clothes,
baby blankets, crib sheets
(made out of old sheets or
cotton blankets), clear heavy
plastic, action toys and soft
rubber toys are among other
items that are sought.
Mrs. Barbara Coates of
Parkrose is chairman of the
day care program of the local
council and services as the
council’s vice president. Sec
retary - treasurer of the group
is Wilbur Sulzbach, Sandy.
