As I write my column on this
Friday, February 5th, the wind
Is roaring outside and huge
branches are blowing off of our
lovely fir tree. However, I will
try to calm my nerves and re­
port what has been going on this
past week.
A very Informative program
was presented last Monday eve­
ning at the February Glenfalr
PTA meeting. Speakers from
the East Side Committee for a
Community College In East
Multnomah County told of plans
to establish a community col­
lege in this area. The speakers
Mrs. Betty Schedeen - co-
chairman of the group and Mrs.
Charles Becker - a member of
the Portland State College staff,
spoke of the lower cost for
college students, the technical
training opportunities and the
chance for more students to
attend college with the com­
munity college program.
In celebration of Founder’s
Day, three past presidents of
Glenfalr PTA, Mrs. L.eonard
.Carpenter, Mrs. Anthony Heigl
and Mrs. Ted Wilkins, were
presented with beautiful red
tulip plants.
Mrs. Odella Blessing Intro­
duced special guests, Mr. and
Mrs. Juan Vizcarra, at the
meeting. Mr. Vizcarra Is the
General Consul of Peru at the
Consul of Peru In Portland.
The Vizcarras have been in
Portland for about six months
and have a son attending school
here.
Boy Scout troop 283 present­
ed the colors at the meeting
in conjunction with Boy Scout
week Feb. 7-14.

Mrs. Ed Self on the birth
daughter, Ann Carolyn,
joins two brothers, David

students at Glenfalr school
painted a large scale model
map of the United States on
the floor of their classroom.
The project took three daysand
was under the direction of their
teacher, Mrs. Margaret Beck­
with. The students have en­
joyed using the map in games

ating at home after long hospi­
tal treatment. She Is doing fine.
C. J. Wilkinson reports his
brother Ray, of Depoe Bay, who
Is in a Portland hospital, is
making Improvement. He suf­
fered a heart attack.
Ralph Weaver and wife Alpha
of Portland, visited the Walter
Howard home on Thursday,
George Franklin of Milwaukie
was also a caller at the How­
ards.
Albert Ault has put his mo-
ther’s house up for rent. Mr.
Franklin Is farming the acre-
age.
Rev. J. L. Buck of Fossil
visited the Caldo and Breen
homes last week.
Mrs. Bonita Williams of
Sandy spent Monday evening
at the W. W. Howard home.
Dr. William H. Howard and
wife and small son David also
spent Saturday with his parents
the W. W. Howards. Other call­
ers were Mrs. Eleanor Howard
and three children. She is a
teacher In the Estacada schools.
Helen Wilkinson was visiting
her parents here Saturday and
Sunday, the C. J. Wilkinsons.

The death of Mrs. Edna Reed
of Booth road took one of the
old-timers. She had lived there
about 30 years. Mr. H. Faust
who recently died tiad also lived
on Booth road a number of
years.
Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wilk­
inson with daughter Marlene,
and daughter Mrs. Tom Horn-
back and two small boys, drove
to San Francisco Friday where
they wll join Mr. Hornback at
a Naval base. The Wilkinsons
will return Sunday.
