bed make a“firecheck”.Check
the heater,stove, ash trays and
electrical appliances.
Talk over with family mem
bers what you would do in case
of fire. Make an escape plan
from every room and practice
it. If you have a two-story
house, be sure to plan a way
to get out in case of emergency.
Teach your child the mean
ing of "hot”, teach him what
to avoid. Let him learn how
to use fire sensibly and have
him practice the "fire escape”
route.
Never leave children alone

Sandy streets recently have had their
share of problems. On Scenic Ave., above,
new curbings were laid when the street
was widened and residents are still wait
ing for contractor to finish paving. In the
meantime, mud, muck and mire, created by
heavy rain and traffic continue to plague
residents.

were re-located along south side of street.
Despite efforts of city maintenance crews,
swampy no-man's land continues to exist. Ir-
ritated merchants on street wonder how
long it will be before state highway crews
get around to long awaited widening and
surfacing of the road.
