He will not be forgot ten. Sunday, the Rev. Paul Ack erman conducted services at the Community church, carry ing on the theme set by Dr. Nye, yet memorializing his life in the program. Mrs. Willard Boring conducted the choir and Mrs. H. Sharp sang. It was an nounced that a scholarship me morial would be set up In Dr. Nye’s name at Nebraska Wes leyan college. Any number of members in the Moms and Dads clubatSan- dy Monday night seemed to have returned from an elk hunting trip that weekend, but as far as we could learn, only Presi dent BUI Dyal had had any luck. Judy Naas, daughter of the Norval Naas family, observed a birthday Monday. Patricia Da vis, daughter of the D. B. Da vises, had a birthday last week. Next week, the Boring Parent Teacher association on will have a Christmas theme for Its meeting. On Dec. 20, the Com munity church will present its Christmas cantata and pro gram. Dec. 16, the Sandy high school music department will give its program of Christ mas music -- always a high light In our community, too. COUPLE HONORED The hilariously successful Broadway play "The Men Who Came to Dinner," will be presented Friday, Dec. 11, by the ambitious junior class as its traditional annual play. The play, written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, is now in the final stages of rehearsal. Faculty directors, Carlyle Gay and Dennis Crow and student directors, Jan Gulvin and Diana Strong, are keeping Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thorpe were honored with a silver an niversary party at the home of Edward Wheeler on Sandy Heights on Nov. 7. Mr. Thorpe Is head of X-ray and laboratory techlclan at Gre sham General hospital. The Thorpes, who now live In Gresham, formerly lived in Sandy several years. Among the 24 guests were these from out of town: The Rev. and Mrs. Ira Fol lett, Portland; Mrs. Joy Win ters, Modesto, Calif; Mrs. Jo Pape, Gresham, and Mr. and Mrs. David Easley, son-in-law and daughter of the guests of the 30 member cast hard at work every af ternoon after school. Mrs. Marchal was born Marie Julie Collignon, on March 4, 1876, In France. The early years of her life and her schooling was In France. In 1895 in Paris she was married to Edward Marchal, and In Decmeber 1927, they arrived at Patterson, N.J. In 1946 Mrs. Marchall came to Oregon, making her home at Sandy. Mr. Marchal died In 1940. She was a member of the Catholic church. She has been in failing health the past three years. Surviving members of her family include her daughters, Mrs. Anela (Yvonne) Cassola, Mrs. Edwin (Marcelle) Gesch, Mrs. Fred (Alice) Thompson, Miss Gabrielle Marchal, Mrs. Henry (Julie) Olejnik, all of Sandy; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were Sat urday Nov. 28, In the chapel of Carroll Funeral Home, Gres ham. Burial was In Forest Lawn cemetery. He was born In Hartsville, Ind., on Oct. 18, 1891, where he lived until he was 19 years old. He married Edna McCormick in Portland on March 10,1945. He followed the printing trade and had lived In Sandy since 1942. Prior to living In Sandy he lived In Ontario, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Edna E.; children. Mrs. Dean W. Klein, Portland; Mrs. Violet Bisback, Gresham and Charles McCormick of Portland, and five grandchildren. His broth er, Clifford A. Morris of Port land also survives.
