We Americans are known thru
out the world as a nation on
wheels.
I wonder how many of us at
times leave the family car parked,
use old shanks mare and go for
a little walk.
Try it some time, look around
and believe me you will be amazed
at what you have been missing.
How about this.

of the fish they have to fib about
something. The bigger the whale
the lighter the thread.
Nothing like taking life easy,
this is logical.
An old mountaineer and his son
were setting in front of the fire
smoking their pipes, crossing
and uncrossing their legs.
After
a long silence,
the
father, said; “Son, step outsic
and see if its’ still raining.’
Looking up, the son said, “Why
don’t we jest call in the dog and
see if he’s wet?’’
Today is a special day for me.
My wedding anniversary.
The years have slipped by all
too soon, but they have been good
ones, my darling.
I want you to know without you
I’d be a very lost person.
I love you sincerely.

very little even under crowded
conditions, a U. S. Department of
agriculture disclosed.
Tables more than 400 feet from
parking areas were not used at
all.
This Indicates that people prefer
to remain near their cars while
enjoying an outing in the woods.
One is not surprised by this
revelation.
My, a two block walk in the
woods is a hardship no one should
be asked to undergo.
I’d guess that a trash can more
than three feet from the picnic
table would not be used either.
Vandalism is getting to be a
big problem In our State
and
National Forest Parks.
The damage usually amounts
to writing on walls, broken win
dows, paper towels burned in the
rest rooms, or picnic tables chop
ped up for fire wood.
In addition to vandalism there
has been a steady increase in
theft.
Years ago you could leave your
belongings on a picnic table, go
off fishing and expect to find them
when you got back, not anymore.
A number of years back all
the grills on top of the fireplaces
in all the camping areas of Mt.
Hood National Forest were stolen.
Sometimes vandalism and theft
accur during the day and a lot
of times it strikes at night.
No, you can’t blame it on the
youngsters.
A lot of the problems are with
the old teenagers, namely the par
ents.
When you see the parents you
can see how it was handed down
to the kids.
Chatting with my friend Dick
Giles at the Sandy Food Center.
He tells me the picture of the
petrified forest shown in a past
issue of the Sandy Post has brought
a lot of people up to our mountain
to see it.
What I’d like to know is how are
we going to keep the rock hounds
from chipping away at these trees.
Recently Mrs.Lyndon Johnson
our first lady of our land in a
very colorful
ceremony was
adopted into the Crow Indian tribe.
She was given the Indian name of
Pretty Walking Bird.
In to see, and to chat, with
Lee Bishop at the Bait Shop.
She is a hard working gal, puts
in long hours selling those wig-
gly worms to us fishermen. Had
a chuckle out of this sign at Lee’s
it reads,
“Stop talking when I’m inter-
upting.”
Fishermen are funny. When they
