The Sandy Rexall Drug company filled its 200,000th pre
scription recently. This means that 200,000 carefully pre
pared doctors’ prescriptions have been made up and labeled
for Sandy residents since Ivan Barker began operations in
1932. This particular prescription was filled in by Olin Big-
nail in an after hours (9:30 p.m.) effort to aid Mrs. Walter
Von Bergen, Kt. 1, Box 139, Boring, who had her child, Dean
na, 6 months, with her. The prescription was for Deanna.
It is by sue h special aids to customers that the Sandy Rexall
has become an institution tile area could not do without.
Shown are Mrs. Von Bergen and Ivan Barker.

A clothing center is available
again this year, housed in the
old Christian Science building on
Main and Second St.
The growers and different or
ganizations in town will give re
ferral slips to needy families to
purchase at a cost the clothing
needed. Clothing is being received
now at the center and the Commun
its Presbyterian church. Only
clean clothing can be accepted.
The support of the Council’s
program by our community and
many groups and individuals In
the Portland and Gresham area
has been been very encouraging
and helpful. Members of the Coun
cil would be willing to tell more
about the program and needs for
this year to any group or indi
vidual. Call Mr. Neuenfeldt, MU
7-3644 or Mrs. Cecil Seal, chair
man of the Day Care Center Com
mittee, MU 7-2898.
At 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May
26, while the men were eating lunch
nearby, a P.G.E. line truck burst
into flame.
The accident happened at the
fish hatchery where the crew was
making some repairs. Foreman
R. D. McCleary said he heard a
pop, looked up and saw flame
coming out of the cab.
Driver Robert Bell and line
man Louis Popelka got a fire
hose from the hatchery and called
the Sandy fire department. The
fire was soon out. No one was
hurt, but the cab Is a total loss.
Cause of the sudden blaze was
not known.

Ambulance Fund Needs Help
The time is drawing closer and
the Sandy Ambulance fund needs
help. The fund is now at the
$5,700 mark and the date for the
goal is Memorial Day.
Thanks to the generosity of board
members of the old hospital build
ing fund, a cash donation of $2,000
was received. With that extra push
it is felt the goal of $6,500 can
be reached.
Members of the fire department,
who donate their time to operating
the ambulance, feel we should look
into the future now and think about
trading it again in a couple of
years. At that time, they feel
we should get a new one and trade
every two years.
If the city of Sandy is going
to operate an ambulance serv
ice, they say, the equipment should
be kept up-to-date to provide prop
er service.
With the renewal of your am
bulance ticket each year, this can
be achieved without other taxa
tion.
The ambulance people and the
fire department wish to thank each
and every person, organization
and club which has helped in reach-
