Sandy Grade

Really Sir, there is no need to use force when you go
car-buying—simply mention to her that the very
name Rambler means quality—a perfect automobile
that will give pleasure and enjoyment to the entire
family. She won't resist, particularly when you tell
her there are over 200 new Ramblers for selection,
and at this very moment we desperately want to sell
any or all of them—we'll be putty in her hands when
it comes to saving those extra dollars. We're stretch
ing to the limit on trade-in allowances—and offering
a full six passenger Rambler as low as $1799. Lots
and lots of quality used cars too. Financing—no
problem! Buxton Rambler's of course!

mary election in the upper grade
hall of the Sandy elementary
school. Two weeks before this
Primary a registration period was
held for all 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade students.
During this registration period
250 students registered; of these
220 voted (152 Democrats and 68
Republicans). At the Primary, the
students who registered would
check with the co-chairmen to see
if their name was in the Party
book to prove they were eligible
to vote. When this was done the
person was given a ballot so that
he could vote. After they had vo
ted they folded the sheet and placed
it in the ballot box, where after
wards a group of boys counted the
votes and got the following results:

Teacher Jack Callaghan, presented his stu
dents with an idea for charts. The idea was
"vertebrates and invertebrates.” That was
all they had to go on. They made an amaz
ing variety of excellent charts all of which
could not be reproduced here. Shown is Con

of Sandy, with lier chart. Drawings were
made and complete descriptions printed by
hand were included.

Highlights of the past year’s
projects were the subject of dis
cussion at the May meeting of
the Sandy Ridge extension unit
meeting. A list of project lessons
for next year were read.
Mrs. Kenneth Hedden and Mrs.
Maurice Seibert presented the
lesson, Buffet Meals. A buffet
meal
of Swedish meat balls
(Kottbullar), tossed green salad,
buttered hot rye bread, short
cut cheese, pie and coffee were
served.
A simple, well balanced menu
Is usually the best. The hostess
may choose foods that can be
made the day before or foods
may be frozen for convenience.
Decorate the table attractively.
Democratic America turned an
amazed eye last Sunday on Bow-
man’s Mt. Hood Golf Course. A
class war was on with almost
70 participants.
The war was the Snob Hill ver
sus Poverty Gulch golf tournament
in costume. All those living be
low the course on Welches road
were listed as Poverty Gulch and
those above as Snob Hill.
At times the feeling ran high,
as when Gordon Powell, a Snob
Hiller, cut a divot on the first
tee. Marshall Glos, of Poverty
Gulch, was heard to remark,
“You’d have better luck playing
the divot.” Gordon glowered as
only a Snob Hiller can glower. Glos
returned the look, undaunted.
At the banquet
following
the tournament the undemocratic
attitude continued. The Snob Hill
people had steak; the Poverty Gulch
folks were content with pot roast.
City people are more likely
to get tuberculosis than rural
dwellers.
