The week of May 2-9 has been designated as The Salvation Army Salvage Recovery Week in Wash ington, Multnomah and Clackamas counties. Aiding The Salvation Army in this drive are the Camp Fire Girls of Clackamas county. They will deliver Salvage Re- covery bags to residences in the area on Saturday, May 2. On the following Saturday, May 9, the Camp Fire Girls will pick up the filled bags. Mrs. Alan Gunderson, co-ordin ator of the program in Sandy, noted that 100,000 Salvage Re covery bags have been prepared for the week long drived in the tri-county area. Citizens will be requested to fill the bags with their unusable discards, principally clothing. Items too large to fit in the bag will be picked up by the Salva tion Army trucks or may be taken to local fire stations. For truck pick up, citizens may call BE 5- 4193 in Portland. The material collected will be repaired at the Men’s Social Ser vice Center and sold through The Salvation Army Thrift Stores. Money derived from the sale of the goods will be used for the welfare and rehabilitation of dis tressed citizens In Oregon. Cap tain James Ellis of The Salva tion Army heads up this welfare program In Oregon.
