Post Tluir»day, Mar. 26, 6 (Sec. i) ismii Pools to Offer Swim Classes Post Classified Ads Pay — Call Today Gresham Bumps Spring adult swimming classes and a senior life saving course were announced this week by Mike Popovich, Gresham-Centennial pool director. Learn-to-swim classes for men and women will be given at both pools. Tentative starting date is the week of April 6, with classes to meet twice a week for five weeks. Instruction will also be offered in Intermediate swimming. A minimum of 15 persons must sign up for each class. Registra­ tion will be held at both pools from Monday through Thursday of next week. Women’s classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10 p.m.; men’s adult beginner and Intermediate classes will meet from 9 to 10 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The only fee for the class will be 75 cents per night for the use of the pool facilities and equipment The Red Cross senior life sav­ ing course will also start the week of April 6 and meet each week­ day evening from 6 to 7 o’clock for three weeks. Registration will be Monday, March 30, at the Gresh­ am pool at 7 p.m. In order to sign up for the life saving course, youths must be 16 or older, a junior or senior in high school, be able to meet swimming requirements and be In good physi­ cal condition. Swim requirements Include: do­ ing a standing front dive, swim­ ming continuously for 440 yards, swimming two body lengths underwater, floating for one minute and treading water. Sewing Classes Due Next Week Bishop sewing classes are scheduled to begin next week at Gresham high school. These are continuation courses and students must have had Basic Bishop sewing before joining them. Advanced Dressmaking is sched­ uled for Tuesday, March 31. Advanced Tailoring will start Wednesday, April 1. For this class, members should also have had Basic Tailoring. Classes meet once a week from 7 to 10 p.m. for 11 weeks. They are sponsored by the Gresham school district and the State Division of Vocational Edu­ cation. The instructor is Helen Long. For registration or Infor- matlon phone PR 4-1717.
