Kleiber of Rt. 3, Gresh- am. received his “Wings of Gold” and was designed a naval aviator and helicopter pilot Feb. 18 at Ellyson, Field, Pensacola, Fla. Spring’s almost here! It’s good to get rid of all this rain and snow for awhile and have good ole sunshine again! Wednes day began our spring vacation at SUHS. Lucky us, we don’t have to go back ‘til Monday. We’re glad to see Tom Lewis, (Music teacher) back in school again after his operation. Last Friday was his first day back. Tuesday, an award assembly was held in the boy’s gym. Letters were presented to varsity and junior varsity boys, who partici pated in basketball and wrestling. Senior term paper time is here again. Tuesday was the deadline for all Modern Problems classes. The assignment was to state a problem, tell why it is a pro blem and solve it. Well. . . i guess I can tell you who’s in the Senior Hall of Fame. Here goes . . . Kathy Crane, Larry Loundree, Gregg Behrens, Marilyn Warren, Diane Lindsey, and Tim Gillespie. These students will now draw the life history of a frog. From those drawings, first, second and thir ’ place winners will be chosen. The annual free style wrestling 'ournament, which starts Thursday and winds up Saturday night, will be held at Clackamas High School this year. Wrestlers who will part icipate are Hall Dyal, and little brother Tom, Jeff Matz, and my little brother Arlie Hendon. An interschool choir will be held sometime in April. I’ll tell you more about it next issue, Nancy Kitchen and Margaret Boothby were absent from school last Monday, because of an all- state choir meeting. Both girls, who are juniors, just so happen to be members of the prominent choir. ATTENTION SENIORS as soon as spring vacation is over with, this year’s graduates may try out for parts in the senior play which will be presented sometime in April. "Our Town,” which is the title of this year’s prod uction, will be directed by senior English teacher Mrs. Thayus Par menter. A special assembly for seniors will be held March 26, at 1:35 p.m. NEW STUDENT Linda Watts, our only new stu- dent since last issue, is a cute sophomore from Pima, Arizona, Linda has the cutest Southern drawl! Last Monday, the following clubs met: Junior Chamber of Com merce, Future Farmers of Amer ica, Girl’s Athletic Association, Speech and Drama Club, Ham- Radio Club, and the Honor Society. Fire Dept. Auxiliary Saturday night, March 14, the "Benefit Basketball Ball Game” between the Sandy merchants and the Sandy Fire Department was played in the Sandy high school gym. The merchants came up win ners with a score of 61 points to the firemen’s 25 points. A good game was played by all, even though sometimes you couldn’t tell what the game was. The Ambulance Fund was boost ed by approximately $81. Ulis in cluded a donation by the Sandy Chapter of the FFA of $13.78 rais ed from the sale of popcorn at the game. Another benefit coming up in the near future is a "Theater Party,” to be held at the Sunset Theater on April 1. The movie to be shown will be, "Ring of Fire,” and was filmed right here in Oregon at Vernonia. Also watch for the Fire Department popcorn wagon on nice Sundays at the east end of Sandy. The Fire Department and Aux iliary wish to thank all of those who are so generous in helping us make our dream of a new am bulance for the community come true.
