(Sandy "Post photo) Art Class Begins SERVICE LINES The Sandy Art Class under the direction of the Portland artist, Ben Larsen got off to a good start Jan. 8. Larsen gave a short lecture on the principles and aims of art. Some of the highlights were as follows: Art is a fragment of life colored by one’s own person ality; the part of life we want to record. Drawing is the gram mar of art, without correct draw ing a painting fails. Larsen talked of colors and dif ferent combinations, then he dem onstrated by starting a snow scene, explaining each phase as he paint ed. The next class will meet Jan. 22 at 10 a.m., in the Woman’s club hall in three or four months a showing will be held of work done by the class. Everyone interested in art is cordially Invited to Join the class, There is an exhibit of Larsen’s paintings in the First National Bank in Gresham. At the next meeting, members will paint their own pictures. Defensive driving requires your undivided attention -- you must think for yourself and for the other fellow too.
