What’s the easy way to get
husks off black walnuts? Here’s
the answer and it can be done
without staining your hands or
wearing out your patience:Soak
the fallen nuts for two or three
weeks to allow husks to rot
away. Then separate the nuts
from their husks by squirting
them with the water from a
garden hose.
Take the clean but wet nuts
and dry them as you would any
walnuts, being sure toholddry-
ing temperature below 100 de
grees.
Soaking the black walnutsand
their husks doesn’t mean dip
ping them in water. Pile them
in some out of the way spot and
make sure the pile is continu
ally wet. Handle them with an
impliment or gloves to avoid
stains.
