Freeway Access Plans Changed 4H CLUB Plans are being scrapped to use Anderson Rd. for access to the new Mt. Hood freeway. A new highway route is be ing proposed to connect the east end of Gresham and the present Loop highway with the freeway. Preliminary plans call for making it four lanes wide. State highway survey crews have about completed work on a proposed route. It would ex tend from the intersection of Powell Blvd, and the Loop highway to the vicinity of And erson and Stone Rds., a state highway spokesman said. Plans for the suggested route will be forwarded to State Highway Commission officials in Salem for approval, accord ing to A. E. Johnson, highway district engineer supervising the project. The road would angle south east from the junction at the east end of Gresham, running about 2% miles to Anderson Rd. near Stone Rd. Present end of the freeway route is at this point. Grading work is now under contract for the freeway east of Anderson Rd. Johnson said that "ultimate ly” the Mt. Hood Freeway The Mt. Hood Even Stitches and Shutterbugs have been working especially hard on their photography project. They had a meeting on May 22 which was almost entirely devoted to photography. As the day was warm and clear, they went out side to take pictures and to learn to take advantage of light and shadows. Mrs. A. E. Mitchell, the club leader, had a cat who posed for many pictures and was a great help in that way. All four members, Paulette Shibley, Tammy McMahon, Avis Wil liams, and Becky Frazier, were present. Mrs. Mitchell regrets to say that since then Avis Williams had to drop out because of transportation problems. The remaining three members plan to take part in exhibiting their photography and their sewing. They also plan to be in the style revue. — Becky Frazier, news reporter. THE LH's EMBLEM The 4-H Club emblem is a green four leaf clover with a white H in each leaf. The 4-H’s represent Head. Heart, Hands and Health would be extended from Gresh am to Portland.
