The Sandy (Ore.) Post Thursday, June 13, 1963 (Sec. 1)
School days that ended two weeks ago be
gan anew for the youngsters who are par
ticipating in Sandy grade school's first sum
mer school session. About 60 youngsters who
are looking for a boost in their learning en
rolled in this new project. The first day
found tlie older ones thoroughly enjoying the
Jun«- sunshine during that favorite time re
cess. Camera caught Kandy Huserik just as
he hit a single. Laurel Swalls connected bat
with ball faster than camera could catch.
But 2nd ami 3rd graders, who have recess
at a different hour, were all wrapped up in
"book learning.”

Police Halt
Youth's Party
Along River
A going-way party attended
by about 30 East County
youths broke up early last
Thursday night when nine dep
uty sheriffs arrived.
Police didn’t arrest anyone
at the party, held at the mouth
of Gordon Creek in a remote
spot along the Sandy River.
But six bottles of beer were
confiscated from cars owned
by several minors.
Boys and girls from 15 to
over 21 were at the party.
Police said the party was not
wild but they went there after
getting a tip that a "beer par
ty” was in progress.
The Juveniles under 18 were
brought to the Gresham pre
cinct and retrieved from there
by their parents. Half of the
group was between 18 and 21,
a fourth under 18 and a fourth
21 or more.
