Thursday, May 9. 1963 (Sec. 1) The Sandy (Ore.) Post Notes The George McLeans, of Ha waii, are visiting their home in Welches. They played golf every day in spite of the rain. In another year they will be come permanent residents of our community, and very wel come they will be. Wonderful people. Cecelio Tovar, our genial jack-of-all trades at the Golf Club, has finally returned after several months visiting with his family in Mexico. He brought his younger brother. Pedro back with him. And a very good looking brother he is. We are all helping Pedro learn English and I am sure he thinks we are all nuts, and I know he must think the English language is. I didn't realize how many words we have that are used in so many different ways, and still are spelled the same. Guess I'd better start learn ing the language myself. Naomi Blaisdell celebrated their 20th anniversary last Monday. They really celebrat ed on Sunday. The family all went for a drive and ended up at Shaniko at the old ho tel there for dinner. They said they arrived at dinner time, by chance, or they don’t think they would have gotten much to eat. Everything was served fam ily style, after the head gal rang the old dinner bell. They were joined by 14 elderly men including the Mayor, who sat with them, and they had a most interesting conversation with him. All the food they could eat. for a dollar for adults and 50 cents for chil dren. A different, and most enjoy able way to go out to dinner. Everyone had a ball, and I’ll bet they don’t forget it for many years to come. Welches school had their school board election for a new director, and Tom Day was elected. Also, the budget was passed. Elsie Creighton is improv ing and we hope she will be able to come home very soon. Lura Dell Callaghan was in an automobile accident this side of Gresham on Monday. I only saw Jack for a few mo ments, at the hospital, and knew she had a broken arm but what other injuries they didn’t know at that time. When I went back to check on her they had transferred her to Emanuel hospital. We all wish her a very speedy recovery and do hope that she is doing O.K. Orpha and Hal Dudley cele brated their 25th wedding an niversary with an open house. Really cause for a double cele bration, as Hal received his official appointment, from Pres. Kennedy, as Postmaster of the Rhododendron post of fice. The Gadwood Bowling team, for Tuesday mornings, came home with the trophies for their season's efforts. Mighty proud of us, we be. And the Gad- woods are proud of us also. We 'uns are: Marty Amach- er, Rudy Kasch, Jerry McAn- die, Maxine Hickey and my self.
