V. D. Butler Leaves Sandy
UP and DOWN the MOUNTAIN
Some people are saying these
days. Isn't this beautiful wea
ther just like spring!”
I suppose I’ll have to agree
with them.
When I can work around my
flowers in February what else
can I do but agree?
As for myself. I would just
as well have snow in our moun
tains this time of the year.
Without a snow pack in the
mountains what are we going
to use for water this summer?
Last year at this time there
was over ten feet of snow at
Timberline Lodge.
This year there is only about
24 inches. The way it looks
to me now our woods are go
ing to be tinder dry. and all
of us are going to have to use
extreme caution in regards to
fire.
WTiy not. during this period
of good weather, clean up
around your homes.
Remember, an ounce of pre
vention is worth a pound of
cure.
Cooperate with the men of
the Forest Service; they are
your friends. And if we do have
a dry summer, they will do a
real job in protecting your
home and my home.
