Carbon monoxide is with you
every time you drive your car.
It is especially deadly because
it is tasteless, odorless and
invisible. You won’t be able to
detect its presence in any way
until it is too late.
Even in so mundane a matter as washing her hands, Mar
gie Carothers makes use of some of the lovely ceramics she
has made. Golden "clamshell" soap dish matches golden
bathroom fixtures in Carothers home on Salmon river.

A very interesting meeting
was held by the Firwood Ex

12, with 32 members present
and two guests, Mrs. Elva Aus

The lesson, "Care of Elec
trical Appliances," was given
by Arleigh Hoel and Caroline
Decker. It started off with a
clever telephone conversation
between Helena Wesselink and
Pauline Allgeur telling of many
n e w
appliances.
There were also some of the
newest appliances on display,
such as hair dryers, electric
coffee makers, spray and steam
irons, fry pans, knife sharpen
er and a Corning Ware skillet
with an electric base.
There was also one of the
new Can-O-Matic can openers
with the expandable legs.
Over 5,000,000 steam irons
were purchased n the United
States, 59,000 being sold in
Oregon during 1962. Clackamas
County purchased about 13-14
percent.
A demonstration on the uses
of the blender was given bj
Irene Armstrong and the sauc
es she fixed were later served
as dessert and were very de
licious. Irene did a wonderful
job with her demonstrations
and we all learned a lot on the
use of a blender. We also had
cakes baking in our electric
fry pans which were also serv
ed for lunch.
