Oregon National Guara will be
Feb. 17-24. with most units
sponsoring public programs on
the closing Sunday.
Recently-announced reorgan
ization of the Guard left many

average.
After having hit 25 for 50
at Reynolds for 50 per cent,
and having hit outstanding per
centages in other contests,
their 19 baskets in 53 shots in
the Jesuit game looks pretty
low.
Two Pioneer scoring stand
bys had off - nights. Gerald
Hale averaged a lowly .091 on
one out of 11 shots. Dan Nich
ols canned three of 13 on his
usually deadly jumpers, but ad
ded three lay-ins.
Sandy led most of the way
in their 61-54 victory, but Jes
uit threw a scare into the home
crowd in the third quarter when
they took a 43-38 lead at one
point, and closed the quarter
44-40.

The Rev. Jack Chase, mem
ber of the national champion
wheel-chair basketball team,
will speak at the Assembly of
God church in Sandy Feb. 24-
March 3 at 7:30 p m. At the
age of 20, the Rev. Mr. Chase
was stricken with polio leaving
his legs paralyzed.
Since then, he has attended
the University of Illinois and
after graduating, enrolled at
LI.F.E. Bible college in Los
Angeles. Upon completion of
his studies there he entered the
ministry.
In the summer of 1962 Rev.
Chase was one of 18 wheel
chair personnel to go on an ex
tensive tour of South Africa,
Southern Rhodesia and Europe.
The purpose of the tour, ini
tiated by South Africans and
Southern Rhodesians, was to
demonstrate to those countries
the possibilities of activities
and employment for the physi
cally handicapped
During the course of this
tour Rev. Chase won first place
in the "Slalom" obstacle course
race and played on the United

After the half stop Jesuit cap
tured the lead, only to have
the Pioneers come back for
the win.
Sandstrom led both teams
with 17. Nichols followed with
16. Chuck Croston sank 11 foul
shots and a lay-in for 13 points,
and Dale Carpenter added 10.
Hale and Jon Sandstrom filled
out the total with 3 and 2.
