There are som e th in gs significant about the Church of
Christ. T hese th in gs are characteristics identifying, ana
setting forth the Church o f Christ for w hat it is.
First, it w ears the nam e o f its head, Jesu s Christ, because
it belongs to h im ; he bought it w ith h is ow n blood. A cts 40.4».
It w ears th is nam e and no other, because “there is salvation
in none other . . . A cts 4:12.” Second, th e origin o f the
Church o f Christ is significant. It originated on th e first
Pentecost after th e resurrection o f J e s u s fr o m lh e dead. l t
w as originated w ith the com ing o f th e H oly Spirit on this
notable day. It w a s not established during th e days o f John
th e Baptist, for if sp it w ould have been instituted w ithout
th e blood of Christ for he had not y et died. It also w ould
