Council Fears Suit
A s M artin Demand
Is M a d e By Lawyer
The city fathers shivered with apprehension of a law suit
Monday night when it was called into a special meeting to hear
that Edgar L. Martin, one-time attorney for the city, had turned
over a claim against the city for $500 in fees to Alfred P Kellev
Oregon City attorney, who made a formal demand of the council
for the fees.
Mr. Martin was hired by the council last spring on his
proposal, that he be assigned to do the legal work involved in
securing easements for the laying of Sandy’s sewer system The
agreement at the time was to pay Mr. Martin $500 of the

remainder of the fee when the
work was completed.
The city council authorized a
payment of $1.00 to open the
negotiations after being billed
by Mr. Martin.

A plan proposed by L. Earl Wilson, Brightwood Grange
master may become one of the main planks in the Republican
campaign platform, when the Republicans fired the open gun
last Monday at a Sandy meeting by appointing a three-man
committee to study the county roads and suggest a “comprehen

The plan, which was originally proposed at a June meeting
of the Republican central committee was rejected by the com
