Among the things for which our
boys are fighting is the right to cele
brate Christinas in the traditional
American way. It is with particular
pride in our country’s accomplish
ment in this direction and with firm
faith for the future that we send you
now our heartiest Xmas wishes.

A campaign put on last year
to increase the output of laJino
clover seed in Oregon which in
eluded a substantial increase in
guaranteed price resulted in a
big jump in the production of
certified seed in Oregon in 1944
compared with the 1943 output,
E. R. Jackman extension farm
I crops specialist at Oregon Htate
college reports.
The preliminary estimates for
1944 show a production of well
over 300,000 pounds compared to
less than 200,000 pounds in 1943.
Demand from eastern dairymen
for ladino clover seed to increase
the yield of their pastures is
still greatly in excess of supply.
Certified seed is now selling
well above the government’s guar
antced price of $1.50 per pound.
Jackman believes that the crop
looks like a good bet on an ex
panded basis for another year or
two at least. Josephine and Jack-
son counties produce a high per
centage of the United States sup
ply of ladino clover although this
year Malheur, Deschutes and
Crook counties added substantial
ly to the states total production.
