service in the Alaskan and Asia­
tic-Pacific war theatres after
more than twoa nd a half years
service.
The former Portland man, a
Benson Tech graduate will have
21 days at home and then will
report to Santa Barbara, Calif,
for re-assignment.
He entered
the service October, 1940 and was
shipped to Alaska In April of
1941 and after service there he
was returned to the United
States for special training and
then asigned to the Alaska-Pa
clfic zone where he participated
in the battle for Attu island.
His decorations include the
American Defense ribbon with
bronze star for Attu action, the
Asiatic-Pacific bar and good con­
duct ribbon. He also has five
overseas service bars.
