jPnrt ©rfnrd Àeuis __________________________ Port Orford, Curry County, Oregon 97465 Price: Ten Cents Thursday, July 3, 1969 JUBILEE STARTS TODAY School Election Mon. The voters of the Port Orford- Langlois School District 2CJ u ill vote for the third time an July 7,1969, on the proposition to ex ceed the six per cent statutory increase of the 1969-70 school budget. The school district gen eral fluid budget was reduced $22, 348. 00 over that amount that was turned down by the voters at the June 9 election. This reduction was made by action of the district school board at a special meeting on June 13, to remove from the budget the proposed building plans for the operation of the 6-6 plan operation, and add back to the operational budget that amount that will be necessary to operate the five classroom buildings. The total budget requirement for the school year 1969-70 is $734, 707. This is composed of $695,937 in the general fund and $38,770 in the bond and interest fund. This compared to $761,807 in the general fund and $41,815 in band and inter est fund of the 1968-69 budget would be a reduction of $65, 807 in the general fund and $3, 045 in the band and interest fund. The taxes to be levied are $404, 503 which is a decrease of $106, 359 over the 1968-69 budget. This is due to that a- mount of money that was added to budget resource from the land and timber sales fund and the reduction in the budget in the various categories. Of the total budget amount t o be levied $146, 306 is within the six per cent lim itation and $47, 632 of the bond and interest fund is not subject to the lim itation. The amount of money outside the six percent lim itation is $210, 565 and this will require a vote of the people. The estimate of the school tax rate for the 1969-70 school year will be $16. 12 per $1000.00 of the true cash value of personal property,This school year rate as shown an the Tax Form was $18.87. The voters will ballot between the hours of 8 a. m. and 8 p. m . at the Port Crford Elementary School and the Langlois Primary School.
