The Board of Commissioners approved hiring Mabel E. Holt, Psychiatric Social Worker, to be employed in the Family Ser vice Clinic; Frank A. Serean HI, part-time assistant Cus todian; C. W. C. Newton, Me chanic Range A, in the Road department; and the reclassi fication of Frank Hellrig from Shop Serviceman to Road Main tenance Man IL The Commission approved an Order for distribution of funds to the twelve taxing bodies of the county from the Land and Timber Suspense Fund in the amount of $5,605.42. The County Planning Com mission met with the Board of Commissioners with the follow ing attending: Cy Zeigler, Bill W allace, D istrict Attorney, Herb M o r r e l l , Doug DeVoe, Bruce Shaner, Bob Knox, Chair man, Lee Fountain, Eileen Web- ley, Secretary, Paul Stallard and Commissioner Tucker. A Resolution, In the matter of Acquiring Real Property for the construction of Ocean View drive, was approved by the County Commission. In other business the Com mission approved $46.80 for transportation and meals for an indigent case. The county was reimbursed in the amount of $50.00 which had been approv ed at an earlier date from the indigent fund. Lena James, Gold Beach City Councilwoman, appeared to re quest that blackberry vines be sprayed in the city park. Ten Cents Bloodmobile In Bandon Monday Bandon area and C u r r y County residents are reminded that the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Bandon Monday, May 19, at the Ocean Crest gym between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m. As Port Orford is not includ ed in the stops made by the Bloodmobile, northern Curry residents are urged to come to Bandon to give blood that day. According to a spokesman for the Port Orford Lions Club, Lions of the area are asking that anyone not already having a specific recipient, give blood in the name of Stanley Babb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burrell Babb. Stanley recently under went open heart surgery and must replace 33 pints of whole blood. “ We do want to remind people that they stipulate who the blood is to be donated for,” said the Lions spokesman, ‘ ‘as blood is very much needed in this area.” “ Anyone in the northern Curry area not having transpor tation to the Bloodmobile is asked to call Port Orford 332- 3701 or 332-3591,” said the spokesman. The Babbs recently pur chased Southern Oregon Supply at Laurel Grove. Mrs. Walter H. M iller, local chairman of the blood drawing, also reports that eight addition al pints of blood are needed to replace those used by Port Orford residents at the Southern Coos General Hospital in the past several months. The quota for Monday’s draw ing is 75 pints. Boy Hits Auto Danny Royal, 7 year-old sen of Mrs. Trudy Royal, Coast Guard Hill,was held overnight for ob servation at Southern Coos Gen eral Hospital in Bandon follow ing a Sunday afternoon accident. C ity police said the boy was coasting down the hill on his b icycle about 4:30 p .m . and crashed into the side of a car driven by W illiam D. Krick, J r ., going up the h i l l . Krick had stopped his car before the im pact. The boy received cuts and bruises about the face, legs and head. There was no damage to the car. Higher Postal Rales Planned School Budget Cut 7 0 ,0 0 0 The School District 2CJ bud get com m ittee m et Thursday, M ay 8,1969, in the Pacific high school library to review the re cent defeat of th e proposed 1969-70 school budget. In the General Fund category deletions were made in the stu dent insurance of $2, 500; boil er insurance $340; and com munity service of $1,400. An a - mount of $30, 000 was deleted from the unappropriated b al ance category. These amounts reduced the General Fund bud get from $752, 525 to $718, 285. A reduction of $34, 240. An in crease was added to that amount tobe received from the County School Fund of $3, 251. In ad dition to that $33,471 was re duced in that amount estimated for uncollected taxes. The total of these reductions and increase in County School Fund reduced that amount outside the six per cent lim itation, which w ill re quire a vote of the people from $336, 716 to $265, 754 or a re duction of $70, 962. An amount of $2,912 in the non-certified personnel insur ance was discussed to be drop ped at the budget com m ittee m eeting but was decided to be le ft in the budget by the district school board due to the fact this was a negotiated item between the school board and the nan- certified negotiation com m it tee.
