4 —Port Orford News, Thursday, April 3, 1969 Students Create Pictures Musical Comedy Being Rehearsed The students of Pacific High School are currently rehearsing "Where Is The Mayor?” , an hilarious new musical comedy created by Mary Lacey, well- known television writer, and Paul Weirick, a leading com poser-arranger. Hie story concerns a mayor who conveniently disappears when asked to sign a contract for a new highway that seems to go nowhere. But as the story unfolds, in fast-moving dialogue and swinging melodies, it Is revealed that the highway does go somewhere and it tells where the mayor goes too. Hie production will be pre sented on April 17, 18 and 19 and those attending “ Where Is Hie Mayor?” which has all the qualities of a Broadway show, will be talking about It and humming the catchy tunes for months to come. RESIDENTS ILL Edwin Burt of Langlois Is in the Veteran’s Hospital In Rose burg for minor surgery. Polson Oak Is already taking Its toll of victims and those who are susceptible should take care. One of the first victims Is Cheryl Miller, daughter of Mrs. Harold Caughell of Lang lois. She had it at this time last year too but did not have It later In the summer. Both eyes are swelled shut and most of her face is covered, making her very miserable. TO WASHINGTON Mrs. C. H. Dunn and daugh ter, Kim, of PortOrford, grand daughter, Whitney Dunn, and grandson, Jay Walton, from Coos Bay went to Mossy Rock, Wash., during spring vacation. Mrs. Dunn visited her sister and family, the Kenneth Adams, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Owen, In Mossy Rock, then went to Tacoma to visit another sister and family, the Roy Forsgrens. W h itn e y Dunn visited her grandmother and grandfather In Mossy Rock and Jay Walton visited until Thursday when hls parents picked him up to make another trip with them. They all returned Saturday. CELEBRATE On Sunday, March 23, a very special birthday and anniver sary dinner was held at the Lyle Knutson home In Denmark for Connie Higgins, whose birthday was March 16, for Calvin Hig gins, whose birthday was March 21st, as was hls mother’s also, and which was the 26th wedding anniversary of Connie and Cal vin’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Higgins. AUXILIARY MET On Tuesday the Port Orford- Langlois Lions Auxiliary met at Whalens at 7 p.m. for a dinner meeting with 13 members present and one guest, Mrs. Mills. Those present were Delsle Lang, O llie Britton, Tressa Gorsuch, Ollie Kreutzer, Clara Erwtp, Docla Sweet,Birdie Ed wards, Ada Schlappl, a visitor from Portland, and Ethel Geer. In the short business meeting that was held the members voted to send the money for the one-half scholarship for summer school that they had pledged and also to pay all their other financial ob ligations. The laprobes were delivered this week to Hie Willows Con valescent home at Laurel Grove and to the Bandon Retirement Home. ROUTINE CHECK-UP Mrs. William Krlck, Sr., re turned from Medford on Mon day where she went for a rou tine check-up. TUCKER VEITORS Mrs. Ma Basye, mother of Mrs. Ira Tucker, has been visit ing the Tuckers for some time from Glendale. Mrs. Roland Hervey and Mrs. John Baer, from San Diego, Calif., sisters of Ira Tucker, were visitors at the Tucker home recently. They came north to attend the funeral ser vices for their brother in Port land.
