A few days ago he re­ ceived a bonus in the form of a fu rry white American Es­ kimo Puppy with the registered name of “ Snow White-Snow G irl” . The five-week-old p u p p y , called "M ik a ” at home, Is a cross between the American Eskimo Dog and the Greenland Eskimo. This dog has been especially bred in the United States fo r 14 years, and here on the West Coast they are raised by the Sunvalley Kennels of Kennewick, Wasti. Mika is supposed to be a small dog, not over 13 pounds. The Sunvalley Kennels have been Instrumental in producing this breed in the toy and minia­ ture strains. "Sam is t h r i l l e d and ex­ tremely happy by the trust he has been given in raising and training of Mika.” WILLOW CLUB SEWS Due to Illness not many of the members of the Floras Willow club were able to be at the home of Mrs. C liff Lang last week to sew but the ones who could be there took their sack lunches and madefour lap- robes fo r The W lllows conval­ escent home, made one baby Jacket, four pot holders and worked on pillow slips. Brooks Vacation Mr. and M rs. Clarence brooks of Langlois have re­ turned from a two and a half months' vacation In Arizona and C a li f o r n i a . Quartzsite, A riz ., where the Desert Miners cemetary and the "Camel D riv­ e r’ s’ ’ tomb are found,was ttielr headquarters. The story Is that camels had been brought into that desert area to haul mining supplies and equipment because they could go without water fo r so long, but it didn’ t workout and the camels were turned loose and were seen there fo r a long time. The Brookses visited San Luis In Old Mexico and were e s pe c 1 a 11 y interested in Hav- asaw City, the new metropolis that Is being built on the Colo­ rado River in Arizonia where a modern saw manufacturing plant w ill be established. They visited in California, going to Bly todo their shopping while staying at Quartzsite, going to Es cond 1 d o , Laguna Beach, Santa Ana, Santa Maria and Morro Bay. They visited these area during the time of the te rrib le floods and found roads washed out, bridges gone and farms that looked like lakes. At Santa Marla, on their way home, they visited Mr. and Mrs. W illiam Riley (Sandra Brooks) and son, their granddaughter, and looked after property at Morro Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Clell Mason and M r. and M rs. Harry Green­ well of Bandon and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas of Port Orford, also Mr. and M rs. E rie Parker of North Bend, were callers at the Brooks tra ile r, as were others they had met in the camp in previous visits there. They found a most unusual weather pattern fo r Arizona this year. A few snow flakes fe ll, frost occurred on seven or eight mornings and from 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 Inches of rain were very different In that country where any rain is very unusual. When they returned home their son, Don, and his son, Jim m ie, from Eugene visited them. This is a baby chicken which hatched out In the Sixth Grade room, taught by John Black. A Quail egg incubator, which looks like a cake plate cover, was borrowed from Mr. and Mrs. John Belcher and two hens eggs were placed on It and guarded carefully by the youngsters. A ll who worked on the project are proudly pro­ claiming “ We had a 50% hatch anyway.” GARDEN CLUB MEETS The Rhododendron Garden club met with the Senior C iti­ zens at Bandon fo r their Feb­ ruary meeting. Mrs. Catherine Rice became a Garden club member. Roll call was answered by naming a wild animal of Curry County. M rs.
