Pacific wrestlers,continued their
winning record last Saturday,
Jan. 11, by each winning three
matches at the Myrtle Point
Wrestling Tournament. A t the
end of the tournament, Fry had
a season record of two pins and
ten decisions. Hefner's record is
eight pins, two decisions, and
two forfeits.
A l s o participating in the
tournament were B r o o k in g s ,
Gold Beach and Myrtle Point.
Pacific's dual m eet scores were:
G o ld Beach 36; Pacific 16;
Myrtle P o in t 33; Pacific 15;
Brookings 43; Pacific 16.

In the tournament, Fred Fry
won three decisions. He beat
Don Nowlin of Gold Beach by
the score of 5 -4 . J im Bush of
Myrtle Point lost to Fry by the
scare of 16-0. Fry decisianed
Tom Weeks of Brookings by the
scare of 8 -4 .
Tony Hefner wen by a forfeit
against Gold Beach. He went on
to decision Hurt of Myrtle Point
by the score of 6 - 2 .He then
pinned Parker of Brookings in
the second round.
B ill Heckard a l s o brought
hom e an individual cham pion­
ship for the Pirates. Heckard
pinned two of his opponents and
decisianed one. Against Gold
Beach, he pinned Duane Fuller
in the third round. Heckard de­
cisianed Prescott of Myrtle Point
8 -3 . He went an to pin R eiling
of Brookings in the first round.
Bill Lenox wen two and lost
only one m atch In the tourna­
m ent. Lenox decisianed Charles
J ohnsen of Gold Beach by the
score of 11-10. He wen by a de­
cision of 13 to 11 over M itchell
of Myrtle Point. In his last m atch,
Lenox was pinned by Herb R e il­
ing of Brookings.Reiling was the
State A -2 champ at 98 pounds
last year.

record for the tournament. He
was decisicned 4 -2 b y Gary
Brown of Gold Beach, but went

The Pirates hit 14 of 63 from
the field far 22 per cent while
the Panthers hit 19 of 69 for 28
per cent. In free throws, Pacific
nit four of 12 for 33 per cent
and Gold Beach hit 15 of 28 for
54 per cent.
High scorer far the Pirates
was Brad Sweeney who hit eight
from the field and missed the
one free throw attempt, for 16
points. Sweeney was followed by

field during the opening week of
the fall hunts can make their
plans early this year, accord­
ing to action taken today by the
Oregon Game Commission at
a public hearing In Portland.
. To accommodate hunters who
must make their vacation plans
early each year, the Commis­
sion established the opening
dates for the general deer sea ­
sons, and the season for phea­
sants and quail. Dates select­
ed were October 4 for deer,
November 1 for Rocky Moun­
tain elk, November 15 for
Roosevelt elk, and October 18
for pheasants and quail.
The C o m m i s s i o n advised
hunters that only the opening
dates for these seasons were
established, with length of sea­
sons, bag lim its, and other reg­
ulations for the fall hunting
seasons to be established at
the regular regulations hear­
ings to be held later in theyear.
Outdoors men present at the
Portland meeting voiced gen­
eral agreement with the s e l­
ected opening dates.
