M r. and Mrs. Libby attended the convention of the Independ ent Fundamental Churches of America at Cave Junction last week. HOME ON LEAVE low -calorie lu n c h e o n was served. Door prizes were won by V irginia Stauffer and Betty Keeler. At the T w i-Llghters social evening meeting on Tuesday the guest speaker was M rs. Vernita M arstall who demonstrated the a rt of feather flow ers. Joan Dickson was special guest and she won the feather flow er cor sage door prize which was pre sented by M rs. M arstall. Maxcine Smith was crowned as queen fo r the month of Sept ember and Susan Brewster won the low calorie basket as the weekly queen. P. F. C. Roderick A. Forty, son of M r. and Mrs. Myron Fort y completed his A ir Craft Turbine Engine Repair Course at F ort Eustis, V irginia on Sept. 26. He w ill take advanced training in the same fie ld at Fort Hood, Texas. He has been home on seven days leave visiting his parents, relatives and friends. TOP CLUB NEWS GROUP HEARS REPORT A group of ladies from Port O rford Episcopal church went to th e E m m a n u e l Epis copal church in Coos Bay Sun day, Oct. 6, to the 4 p.m. meeting where a report on the Lambeth, England, conference was given by Bishop Gross, Associate Bishop of Oregon. T h is conference Is called every 10 years by the Arch bishop of Canterbury, and from i t a pilgrimage is made to a nearby island where the firs t Church of England was estab lished long before any other church in that area. Services are conducted In these ruins every 10 years. B is h o p Gross showed pictures of the in te rio r of the cathedral at Canterbury which is inlaid with gold leaf, also St. Paul’ s In London and West m inster Abbey. CHRISTOPHER'S GUILD MEETS began on Thursday Oct. 10, and w ill continue until Oct. 20 at Battle Rock School in Port O r ford and every citizen is urged io aid he students by listening to their sales talk and sub scribing o r renewing a sub scription if possible. Their goal is $900 and the money w ill be used for school equipment. Dale Par nell as a candidate fo r the Of fice of State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Although the OSBA has taken positions on legislative measures related to public education, this Is the fir s t tim e the organization has supported a candidate.
