GOP Chairman Answers Critics
To The Editor;
Many have criticized the ac­
tion of the Citizen* for Unity
Committee, of which I way
elected vice chairman. The
critics are unaware of some
facts, which should now be
stated.
This has been called a “ get
Heck Tlmeus” committee. Had
this been Its objective, I for
one would never have consented
to be a member, much less its
vice chairman. The other mem­
bers would say the same thing
for themselves, I am sure.
My first Involvement with the
unpleasantness was weeks be­
fore this committee was called
together. Heck Tlmeus then told
me the only solution of the coun­
ty commissioners’ problems
would be the recall of one
member. I didn’t question
which, but told him I was not
aware of anything that demand­
ed such drastic attitude and
action.
He said If I knew how county
money was being spent, I would
think differently. My reply was
that, as a republican, he could
