2—Port Orford New», Thursday, November 3, to the Poet O ffice Box 5 97465 Port Orford, Oregon PUBLISHED EVERY THURSDAY Second c la n m a il privilege» ahthonied at Port Orford, Ore. Editor In discussing various political Issues 1 have come to the con clusion that Comnilsslosier Ryce Wilson should be ra-electad.T he following reasons for this con clusion are submitted for your consideration: 1. Taxes are naturally of great concern to all of us. Moat of our r e c e n t tax statements have shown a substantial reduction this year. Ryce Wilson with his work on the board of equalisa tion played a vital part in ob taining this reduction. 2. We know that WIlson does not play favorites, and he certainly cannot be accused of the old po litick trick of "riding the fence. " 3. Wilson h a s worked hard to make our area more attractive to natives and tourists alike. The public boat launching fa cilities are proof that he does more than just talk. 4. Commissioner W ils o n has been one of the guiding forces behind the Curry County Youth Employment Program. The Lobs ter Creek Youth Camphas shown continuous development.A pro gram initiated two years ago to hire high school boys as hrush cutters has been of great bene fit to the county. A copy of our local program is now on file at Oregon State University where it is made available to other counties wishing to establish like programs. These are a few of Commis- s i o n e r Wilson's accomplish ments. I feel he deserves out vote and support. My sincere thanks to the ed itors tor making this space avail able, and to you, the reader, for taking the time to read my letter. JACK PARKER Route I, Box 4049 Florence, Oregon To The Editor: Reference Is made the payment of >2541.46 to Carlson and Associates for gathering data In support of a substitute salary arrangement for Curry County. It appears to this tax payers association that this was a waste of the taxpayers’ money since a salary Increase took place In C urry County In 1960, with a very substantial taxiat in the salary paid commis sioner!, and no waste of county funds took place at that time for the collection of data to support a substitute salary a r rangement. O. Box 601 Gold Beach, Ore. »A COMMISSIONER RYCE WILSON To The Editor: During the past few months I have had several talks with John Dellenback, M edford, can didate for Congress from the Fourth D is tric t. We have also exchanged letters. My Im pres sion of M r. Dellenback Is that he Is an Intelligent, friendly, well-balanced Individual who Investigates thoroughly an y problem before he makes up his mind. Perhaps that Is why at the close of the 1961 State le g is lature he was named by the press as the "most promising freshman leg is la to r." Since that tim e he has had five years to study the problems of O re gon and the Fourth D is tric t, In p articu lar. I have found hla attitude a contrast to that of his oppon ent, Charley Porter. I have had talks with M r. Porter and have taken part In Congressional hearings at which he testified. His actions are predetermined by his political leanings which support the federal government taking over the affairs in O re gon. M r. Porter becomes ob viously Irritated when not agreed with. He made a poor Impression when he was a House member four years ago, by his Irresponsible publicity- Democrat .Qualified by a wide background of years of experience In logging, lum bering, road construction, farming, and buslnea administration. As your county commissioner for the past four years, I have taken an active part in the county road department and all other phases of the county government. 1 have tried to be fair and Impartial, deciding each Issue on Its own merits. If elected, I will continue to work for the best Interests of all the peo ple of Curry County. I would welcome your checking my record. 1 will ap;»eclate your vote. RE-ELECT RYCE WILSON Id. Pol. Ad.
