One-Half Traffic Fafilifies In M ay Killed On Weekends Almost half of the people killed In traffic accidents In May w e r e killed on week, II IS, the Department of Motor Ve hicles said today. Of the 54 >1ay fatalities li Oregon, 26 occurred during a weekend. S e v e r a l multiple - de at h crashes boosted the May total. Two crashes occurred In which three people were killed, and one single accident was re sponsible for five deaths. Jim Wilson. WUTH COAST Salmon angling 1» »low at Brookings and Gold Beach. Rough bar conditions at Gold Beach have |ireva lied through the past few days. A t Brookings, fog has lim ite d the m o b ility of the ang lers,particularly In the morning. At both ports, the fish are being found from 10 to 20 miles o ff shore and are not expected to move in cloaer for a week or two. Jetty fishing at both ports Is fillin g the gap for many anglers. The c o v e at Port Crford also offers some excellent opportun ities for both boat and bank ang lers. Surf perchand ling cod are being caught In good numbers. Smelt and herring are alto be ginning to show.
